Job Description

The ILS and E-resource Management Librarian is primarily responsible for the management and ongoing maintenance and development of the Regis University Library’s Innovative Interfaces Inc. (III) integrated library system (ILS). This position is also responsible for loading e-resource records related to the ILS. This promotion-track, faculty position works closely with the Access Services, Research and Instruction Services, and Digital Initiatives and Preservation departments.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

Essential:
Leads, administers, maintains, and supports the Library’s integrated library system, currently Innovative Interfaces Inc.’s (III) Sierra, and associated peripherals so that faculty, students and staff have access to the full range of system functionality including the online catalog. (40%)
• Administers and supports the ILS, managing all systems operations.
• Acts as primary contact to ILS vendor for reporting problems and requesting support. Handles all system upgrades.
• Works collaboratively to support library departments by evaluating and testing new software, troubleshooting and reporting ILS issues to the vendor, and in the planning, implementation and operation of the ILS.
• Trains staff on relevant modules of the ILS, including upgrades and new products.
• Maintains and develops the web catalog.
• Maintains membership in Innovative Users Group and attends regional and national meetings and trainings, as budget allows.
Coordinates the creation and loading of multiple record types into the ILS. Batch load and clean-up of ebook records. (30%)
• Batch load demand driven discovery records (currently EBL and Ebrary).
• Batch load Springer, Oxford Scholarship Online, Oxford Handbook, GVRL, Credo Reference, Books 24×7, and Safari records.
• Batch load firm order ebooks at EBSCOhost, Ebrary, and EBL records.

LTI Record Loads (10%)
• Monthly record loads. Scope authorities records once a month.
• Annual load including deleted records, updated records, change records.

Government Publications (10%)
• Loads temporary and permanent MARCIVE (government publications) records.

Serves as bibliographer and faculty liaison to teaching departments for collection development with assigned subject area. (5%)

As a member of the library faculty, serves on library and university-wide committees. Participates in professional activities, including research, publication, and service to fulfill research and scholarship requirements for academic rank and promotion. Participates in various functions of the University to support the values and mission of Regis University. (5%)

1. Decisions range from routine to complex. The incumbent is responsible for determining priorities and responding to requests in a timely manner.
2. Most decisions will be made based on knowledge of specific technologies, and experience with electronic files in multiple formats.
3. Some sensitive decisions may need to be made while under pressure for time. The incumbent will be working with a variety of people and knowledge levels.

SCOPE OF AUTHORITY: (financial, program, specific activity. Amount of freedom to establish methods to complete assignments.)
1. New project decisions will be made together with the Collections and Resource Management Librarian.
2. The incumbent makes decisions regarding the day-to-day operations they oversee.
3. The incumbent makes all workflow and service decisions with regard to their assigned work.
4. Authority to recommend hardware and software items for purchase.

RESULTS OF ACTIONS: (Impact of results on the department/Regis.)
1. If errors are made or duties not performed, access to Regis University Library holdings may be unavailable to students, staff and faculty. Library staff would be unable to perform key functions if errors are made in the integrated library system.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Master of Library Science from an ALA-accredited institution.
2. Minimum three years of professional library experience, preferably in an academic setting.
3. At least two years experience in administration of integrated library systems, preferably Innovative Interfaces Inc. Experience with Innovative Interfaces (III) Sierra and load profiles highly preferred.
4. Thorough knowledge of electronic resources available to libraries, and experience with electronic media and reference products, especially in the areas of access and description.
5. Familiarity with web design.
6. Excellent organizational and communication skills.
7. A commitment to collegiality and strong values in service and innovation.
8. A clear understanding of and strong commitment to, the Jesuit educational values of Regis University and an appreciation of the Catholic heritage of the institution.

• Computer skills, in particular use of an integrated library system, MS Excel, web browsers.
• Ability to perform detailed work.

• Thorough knowledge of integrated library systems and their modules, online library catalog, and associated records.
• Knowledge of computer hardware and software and an understanding of network and web technologies.

• Must be able to hear and understand telephone conversations, telephone ringing, and verbal instructions.
• Must be able to perform basic math functions of multiplying, dividing, subtracting and adding.

• Must have ability to read detailed documentation in English.
