The Community

Rampart Library District serves the communities of the RE-2 School District in Teller County, specifically Woodland Park, Florissant, Divide and unincorporated areas. It has two libraries, the main one in Woodland Park and a branch library in Florissant about 15 miles west of Woodland Park. The District serves about 18,000 taxpaying residents as well as patrons from other parts of Teller County and neighboring counties of Park, El Paso and Douglas.

The area is growing and abounds with natural beauty and recreational opportunities. It has a fine hospital, an excellent school system, an active arts community and national retail stores as well as restaurants and stores with the local touch. It has all the advantages of a friendly small town with proximity to a major airport and the resources of a large city (Colorado Springs).  Woodland Park has recently been awarded “Main Street” designation from the State of Colorado and is known as the “City Above the Clouds.”  Patrons regularly cite the libraries as one of the reasons they chose to move to the area.

Residents of the District are very supportive of the library and its place in the community.  Florissant has a very active Friends group; District volunteers contribute thousands of hours annually; and an enthusiastic, dedicated Foundation Board embraces fundraising and advocacy to sustain the District’s long term viability.
