Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:
These positions support students and teachers with library and media services.  Assists and supports teachers with instruction through the use of literature and technology resources. Library and technology experience preferred. Passion to create a library media center conducive to promoting student learning.  Ability to create a learning environment that inspires reading, use of digital resources, understanding of internet safety and keyboarding skills. Personalize instructional support to meet the diverse needs of students.  Ability to support technology needs, manage on-line subscriptions and book check out system.   Ideal candidate is comfortable with building a community of learners and managing student behaviors.   Able and willing to collaborate with school staff to integrate resources from media center with curricular needs.  At times provides whole class and small group instruction, clerical duties, supervision and redirection. Provide feedback to teachers regarding individual student support. May provide student supervision during student arrival and departure, lunch and/or recess. Develop and promote good community relations among stakeholders.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Facilitate and support small groups of students.
Promote a learning environment that respects the dignity of the child and is perceived by students as fair and consistent.
Support a learning environment that establishes routines and provides for student engagement through questioning, speculation, and originality.
Encourage a learning environment that is safe for responding and questioning, even for the shyest student.
Elicit responses from every member of the group.
Ensure understanding of material by all students.
Lead multi-level students to work together effectively.
Organize and host events designed to encourage home and school partnerships.
Establish student, staff and parental rapport that allows for a proactive response to potential problems.
Provide student supervision in groups, at recess, at lunch, and on field trips.
Actively participate in PLCs and other required training.
Apply and implement knowledge, skills and new understandings to support instructional programming.
Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.

EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE: 
High School Graduate or equivalent.
Bachelor of Arts (preferred).
Bilingual (preferred).
English fluency will be determined through the interview process.
 
LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS:
Valid Colorado Driver’s License.
Valid CPR and First Aid Certification (preferred).

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Frequent lifting 5 (five) to 10 (ten) pounds.
Occasional lifting of up to fifty (50) pounds.
Frequent sitting, bending, walking, and standing.
Occasional stooping, kneeling, squatting, and reaching.
 
WORK ENVIRONMENT: 
The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
Mostly clean and comfortable.

SALARY:
$12.09 - 16.45 per hour, depending on full time job related experience.
 
New hires or rehires will be responsible, through payroll deduction, for the $39.50 fingerprint processing fee required for background checks through the Colorado Bureau of Investigation.
