Job Description

Duties may include, but are not limited to: directs the operation of Interlibrary Loan by overseeing or performing the functions of borrowing/lending materials, scheduling and prioritizing workflow, keeping statistics; conducts extensive bibliographic searches to verify the existence and location of non-routine materials using available databases, web-based indexes and abstracts, and print indexes and abstracts; locates holding libraries through various methods; processes requests from other institutions for materials in the UCCS Library’s collection by locating using the Kraemer library on-line catalog and the library databases, retrieving from stacks, photocopying, scanning, transmitting via computer and packaging for shipment; updates and customizes programs and software changes related to the interlibrary loan unit; supervises approximately 1.0 F.T.E by hiring, scheduling, training in all aspects of ILL, reviewing work, and evaluating job performance; develops goals and objectives, collaborates as a library team member in activities related to goal setting, space allocation, planning, staff searches, and advisory committees.

Additional Info & Requirements

Four years of general library experience (typing, ordering, preparing, shelving, and maintaining library materials), including two years of technical library experience (Interlibrary Loan operations, cataloging/classifying, providing reference and patron services, creating/revising procedures). Applicants must submit a cover letter and complete chronological resume addressing the following areas in detail: Preferred Qualifications: Experience providing interlibrary loan services; experience using OCLC Resource Sharing; experience with interlibrary loan software (ILLiad, Ariel); experience working in a college, university, or research library setting; experience working with automated library systems; experience working with document scanners; experience managing copyright compliance in interlibrary loan, document delivery, or course reserves; excellent oral and written communication skills; supervisory training / experience; ability to work responsibly without immediate supervision; ability to develop and maintain effective working relations with supervisors and co-workers; experience with the Library of Congress classification system; ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse customer base.

The Community

The Colorado Springs campus of the University of Colorado was established in 1965. The student population is approximately 7650. Most students are commuters, but campus housing is available for about 900 students. Doctoral degrees are offered in engineering, geropsychology, educational leadership and nursing practice.
