The Maury Loontjens Memorial Library in Narragansett is hiring a strong candidate to manage and oversee the operation of the Circulation Department. The library is located in a seaside community and it is well known for its friendly and outgoing customer service. Library staff strive to be welcoming to everyone and to provide a safe environment for all.
As a department supervisor, the Circulation Supervisor will be responsible for the supervision and scheduling of part-time circulation staff, the maintenance of circulation records, documents, files and folders as it relates to the functions of the circulation desk. Create and use relevant library reports as needed. Priorities include the assignment of tasks to circulation staff, training staff for applicable computer systems, implementation of library policy and procedures. Promote a high level of customer service to patrons and visitors of the library. Contribute to the maintenance and organization of library space and library materials. Duties also include attending professional meetings, workshops or other continuing education opportunities. The Library Director oversees this position.
Routine tasks for this position involves circulation duties, handling money, fulfilling patron requests, opening/closing procedures, processing materials and maintaining the collection. Physical tasks include lifting up to 15 lbs., sitting and standing for periods of time, using computers and other devices every day, moving furniture, performing light housekeeping duties and organizing the work areas.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution.
- Demonstration of three years library experience.
- Comprehension of the library’s overall functions including library collections, circulation, youth services, tech services, and reference.
- Familiar with related technology including computers, devices and office equipment.
- Individuals need to be self directed, strong communicators, personable and flexible in a fast paced environment.
