Job Description

The University of Colorado at Boulder Libraries invites applications from motivated and innovative librarians to perform original cataloging of continuing resources. As the largest research library in the Rocky Mountain region, the University Libraries is committed to providing access to all types of materials in conformance with national standards and to advancing the field through active service, inquiry, and participation in cooperative programs. Reporting to the Head of E-resources and Serials Access, the Continuing Resources Cataloger is responsible for performing original and complex copy cataloging to support the University of Colorado at Boulder Libraries’ collections. Cataloging is performed on OCLC for inclusion in the local Innovative Interfaces system and in Prospector, the regional online catalog. As an original cataloger in the Cataloging & Metadata Services Department, the Continuing Resources Cataloger participates in NACO and may contribute to the Department Management Group. In furtherance of the Libraries’ mission and departmental goals, the Continuing Resources Cataloger may teach other department catalogers. The Continuing Resources Cataloger is a member of the tenure-stream Libraries faculty. Significant parts of the responsibilities of this position are scholarly activity and creative work and service in keeping with the tenure standards of the University of Colorado at Boulder.

Additional Info & Requirements

The successful candidate will be appointed as a full-time (12 month) tenure-stream faculty member. Depending upon professional experience and demonstrated accomplishments in scholarly activity, creative work, and service, appointment will be at the senior instructor, assistant professor, or associate professor level. Starting salary range will be $44,000 to $48,000. Benefits include 22 working days of vacation, ten paid holidays, liberal sick leave, university group health care plans, group life insurance, TIAA/CREF retirement/annuity, and support for scholarly/professional activities. Tenured librarians are eligible for sabbatical leave.Evidence of any of the following will enhance a candidacy: experience cataloging continuing resources in a variety of formats; experience with a national cooperative cataloging program such as PCC (NACO, CONSER) and OCLC Enhance; knowledge of and interest in current issues, trends, and emerging standards in cataloging; experience using Innovative Interfaces Inc.’s Millennium System; familiarity with Open URL link resolvers, discovery tools, ERMS, and other current library technologies; experience in an academic library; experience working in a collaborative environment; demonstrated initiative investigating new ideas and implementing change; evidence of scholarly activity and creative work and service.
