Job Description

This position is the primary reference resource person helping build bridges between medical and pedagogical content, research, strategies and information technologies. This position will provide direct reference services to students, faculty, general staff and public patrons. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 1.Instruct patrons in finding, evaluating, and using medical research tools and resources available both locally and online 2.Develop various bibliographic aids and handouts to assist patrons 3.Actively participate in collection analysis and development including recommendations for purchase, shelf reading and weeding a certain section of the collection. 4.Develop and hosts regular orientations and training for patrons on how to use the library and resources 5.Interview, select and train selected applicant for vacant position (s) in cooperation with Director of Library Services 6.Other special projects as assigned. 1.Experience with Inter-library loan program using DOCLINE. 2.Experience with ILS. 3.Experience in a health sciences or hospital library. 4.Experience in an academic library. 5.Ability to maintain positive staff relations. 6.A working knowledge of medical reference tools including use of traditional print and online resources. 7.Must be able to think creatively to address library patrons’ questions. 8.Knowledge and understanding of library policies and procedures. 9.Extensive knowledge of computers and databases. 10.Good oral and written communication. 11.Excellent interpersonal skill. 12.Experience with current library software. 13.Demonstrated history of receiving grant awards. 14.Previous experience in an accredited university, health profession college or medical school library. 15.Experience working with a library courier service. 16.Terminal Degree.
