Job Description

The Red Feather Lakes Community Library seeks a Library Director in the unincorporated village of Red Feather Lakes, located 50 miles northwest of Fort Collins, close to the CO-WY border. The Red Feather Lakes Community Library operates under the Red Feather Mountain Library District, one of the smallest library districts in the state, with an operating budget of $180,000. The Library District covers 37 square miles and serves a population of 1650. This rural and seasonal community population increases during the summer months and the library also serves many visitors and non-residents. The library supports the latest technologies and is customer service oriented. The Library Director and staff of 2 are supported by dedicated volunteers, including the Board of Trustees, and the Friends of the Library. The Board of Trustees is in search of a candidate possessing the following qualities: •Community focused with demonstrated community leadership skills •Experienced in budgeting, funding solutions, long range planning, strategic planning •Innovative and tech savvy with ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment •Managerial, organizational, problem-solving, and project management skills •Adept at written and verbal communications with staff, volunteers and Board of Trustees The Library Director is responsible for daily operations including supervision of staff, adult collection development, adult programming, budget oversight and planning, and maintenance of the facility and equipment. Qualified candidates will have an MLS/MLIS and supervisory experience. Other combinations of education, skills, and abilities will be considered. Starting salary is between $35,000 and $41,000 depending upon qualifications. Benefits include PERA, Cafeteria Plan with health insurance (dental and personal leave time. Application review begins immediately and the position is anticipated to be filled by mid-August (negotiable). Responsibilities Include: Oversight of daily operations, personnel supervision and recruitment, fiscal management, collection development, managing and overseeing all library operations (including facility maintenance). Requirements Include: Strong oral & written communication skills, ability to effectively establish working relationships with the staff, volunteers, Board of Trustees, Friends of the Library, and the Red Feather Lakes community. Strong technology skills, ability to work with all ages, multi-tasking and high level of self motivation are required. Some evenings required; Weekends required.
