Job Description

Hires, assigns, trains, directs and supervises activities of staff assigned to the Call Center. Assists and advises Call Center staff, as necessary anticipating and resolving problems as non-routine situations arise. Administers or makes recommendations for routine personnel matters including interviewing applicants, assigning, scheduling, evaluating performance and taking corrective action. Directs, supervises and participates in performance of tasks at the Call Center, including providing professional reference service by phone, mail or by electronic communication in using library catalogs, services and electronic information resources. Refers patrons to community resources; registers patrons for classes or programs; place holds; maintain records and statistics. Works in conjunction with other Unit Heads and Library Manager to develop policies and procedures for the Online and Outreach Library. Coordinates implementation of inter-unit and inter-departmental procedures. Participates as a member of various Library system committees attending meetings of such groups and providing input based on experience and observations. Responsible for scheduling, planning and conducting unit meetings. Attends conferences, seminars, workshops, classes, lectures, etc., as appropriate, to enhance and maintain knowledge of trends and developments in library administration and reference services; and reviews professional journals and participates in activities of professional organizations to establish and maintain contacts with library professionals.
