Job Description
Duties include searching all new items in the catalog, pre-cataloging using the OCLC (Online Center for Library Cataloging) database, physical processing of all library materials (i.e., books, monographic series, CDs, DVDs, etc., collating, creating & affixing labels and property information), processing and distribution of NOAA technical reports, maintenance of the online and shelf list card catalogs, and preparing weekly announcements of new library materials. Catalogs and processes technical reports into Boulder Labs Library online catalog. Performs routine book repairs and maintenance. Assists with weeding, cataloging, and other technical services projects.Additional Info & Requirements

NOAA is a federal agency focused on the condition of the oceans and the atmosphere. NOAA supplies information to its customers that pertains to the state of the oceans and the atmosphere. NOAA also is the steward of national coastal and marine environments. This position is located in the Technical Services and Systems Section of the Information Resources Division (IRD) of the U.S. Department of Commerce (DOC), National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Information Systems Management Office (ISMO). The Division provides a fully integrated program of library and information support services to DOC agency components located in Boulder, Colorado. Serviced Department organizations include portions of the NOAA (Earth Systems Research Laboratory, National Geophysical Data Center, National Weather Service Space Environment Center, Corporate Finance and Administrative Office); the National Institute of Standards and Technology; and the National Telecommunications and Information Administration.HR Info
To qualify for this position you must have: a. one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 level, OR b. a college degree, OR c. a combination of education and specialized experience. Education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience.
