Job Description

LIBRARY TECHNICIAN II - Preservation Technician - G3C3XN POSTING 809916 for position #106985 Paygrade G38 ($2,836 monthly) Nature of Work: This position is located in the Preservation Department of the University Libraries and exists to provide general support to the unit by preparing monographs and serials for binding; assembling issues of serials into volumes and updating online records. Additional responsibilities include additional bindery tasks necessary to send to the commercial bindery and other tasks necessary to prepare material for patron access.

Applications must be received by May 12, 2010 To Apply: Please visit the following website and SEARCH for POSTING 809916: www.jobsatcu.com Minimum Requirements: Two years of general library experience involving typing, ordering, preparing, shelving, maintaining library materials which must have included administrative experience with an online library system AND preservation treatment of library materials, including bound volumes. Conditions of Employment: Must successfully pass a criminal history background check. Highly Desirable Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have knowledge of bindery preparation for serials and monographs as well as familiarity with the following: LARS/ABLE, book construction, the Library of Congress call numbers and government publication call numbering system (SUDOC). The successful candidate will have experience with Microsoft Excel software. Substitution: Two years of course work from an accredited college or university including twelve semester hours of library science course work, which must have included conservation and preservation courses, may substitute for two years of the general library, but not for the specific administrative experience with an online library system.
