Job Description

*Collaborates with faculty and other staff to promote awareness of library materials, inform faculty about how to use library materials effectively in class assignments, and to develop imbedded library instruction within college coursework. *Staffs reference desk approximately 20-30 hours per week primarily nights and Saturdays, as assigned. *Serves as functional lead of library during evenings and Saturdays. *Provides reference/research assistance to library patrons in a variety of formats, which may include one-to-one in person assistance, interactive web based assistance, and development of print or electronic materials and resources to guide patrons to find information. *Participates on a team of librarians developing public services plans, policies and procedures to support the Library’s service mission. *Develops, delivers and evaluates library instruction. *Performs circulation and interlibrary loan functions as needed. *Supports the operations of circulation department, when needed. When appropriate, serves as the functional lead of library operations, including supervision of work studies and part time hourly employees in all library department. *Actively participates with College Hill Library (CHL) professional staff in decision-making regarding library database and print collection purchases. *Actively participates with CHL staff in the development and implementation of strategic planning for library innovation. *Takes an active role in CHL’s outreach efforts to academic departments to support collection development and library instruction. *Prepares or assists in the preparation of various reports, including monthly activity reports and the annual library expenditure report. *Performs other duties as assigned.

Additional Info & Requirements

Required: *Master’s Degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited college/university. *Professional or practicum library reference and instruction experience required. *Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, primarily nights and Saturdays as assigned. *0-3 years experience. *Knowledge and understanding of computer applications, Internet, and various library databases. *Knowledge of library procedures, applicable rules and regulations, library principles, cataloging and circulation principles, conducting research and reference material searches. *Good communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction. *Knowledge and understanding of diversity and ability to work with a diverse college community. Preferred: Experience in a community college working with students and with faculty; experience in library instruction.

The Community

College Hill Library is a joint venture between Front Range Community College and the City of Westminster. The building was designed to fit into it's natural surrounding and features great views of the Rocky Mountains.
