Job Description

• The Head of Circulation supervises 8 salaried staff and is the secondary supervisor for 20 hourly staff. • We are looking for an individual who will hire, coach, schedule, train and evaluate staff; successfully implement self-directed teams; and exhibit excellent customer service while working the circulation desk. • The work involves planning and coordinating work of the circulation department and presenting the library positively to all patrons. • In addition, this individual will work in concert with other library Heads of Circulation and with the other Lakewood Library supervisors. • The successful candidate will be a leader who is able to develop and promote a teamwork environment that inspires employees to be creative in managing the workflow.

The Community

Lakewood Library, which celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2007 with a complete remodel, serves an area with 144,100 residents in the northern half of Lakewood, Jefferson County's largest city. The service area's population is diverse with a growing number of Spanish speakers. Lakewood Library is in a residential neighborhood just a few blocks from busy commercial areas. The library's staff of 22 provides reference services for children and adults, access to Jefferson County's extensive Online Library, about 188,600 items on its shelves, access to extensive law and government documents collections, and numerous free programs for all ages, including story times for children. The library's meeting room is a popular place for community gatherings.
