Job Description

This position is located within the Government Publications section of the Arthur Lakes Library. This position is responsible for cataloging government publications and performing database maintenance for the Library's catalog; providing collection maintenance for the Government Publications section; processing government publications; limited training and supervising of student assistants in the Government Publications section; communicating with government agencies and other libraries; and assisting in various projects for the section.

Additional Info & Requirements

Four years of general library experience including typing, ordering, preparing, shelving, and maintaining library materials, including two years of technical library experience involving cataloging/classifying, providing reference and patron services, and creating/revising procedures. Other requirements include knowledge of library automated systems and basic computer skills; good interpersonal and communications skills; ability to manage data accurately and consistently; ability to work both independently and closely in a team environment; and ability to plan projects and workflow. SUBSTITUTIONS: Two years of course work from an accredited college or university including 12 semester hours of library science work may substitute for two years of general library experience. Demonstrated proficiency in the following competencies may substitute for the required experience. Candidates must document this proficiency in their application.
