Job Description
Serve at public reference desk in Adult Services; interview patrons by telephone or in person and locate desired information or library materials using the electronic databases, the Internet, library materials, or other reference tools. Frequently accompany patrons to library materials and instruct patrons in the use of library resources, both printed and computer based. Assist and instruct patrons in the use of computer software programs, and the Internet. Prepare a collection development plan for a portion of the library collection; select and withdraw materials and manage a portion of the acquisitions budget. Maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, workers and the public. Develop or assist in developing and presenting programs and services in the Adult services area. Conduct class visits and tours of the library. Conduct thorough bibliographic searches and prepare bibliographies and web content. May assign, oversee and review the work of volunteers or library employeesAdditional Info & Requirements
Will work every SaturdayMaster’s Degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in library science or a related field and two years experience requiring strong customer service, teamwork skills, and experience working in adult reference. Bilingual English/Spanish proficiency is desirable.HR Info
COMMUNITY SERVICES DEPARTMENT, LONGMONT PUBLIC LIBRARY, ADULT SERVICES DIVISION. HIRING RANGE: $21.09-$25.30/HOUR. REGULAR PART TIME + BENEFITS. 20 HRS/WK; EVERY SATURDAY PLUS SOME HOURS ON OTHER DAYS OF THE WEEK. THE SCHEDULE WILL INCLUDE EVENING HOURS AND AT TIMES, SUNDAY HOURS. SCHEDULE IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE BASED UPON STAFFING AND CUSTOMER SERVICE NEEDS OF THE LIBRARY.
