Job Description

Nielsen Library at Adams State College is seeking a librarian for a newly created position within our Public Services team. This full-time, exempt position is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the activities of the circulation department and the library website. Responsibilities: Characteristic duties include, but are not limited to: Manage the day-to-day operations of the Circulation Department Maintain the stacks (inventory, shelving and shifting) Hire, train, and supervise student workers Manage course reserves Draft and communicate department policies and procedures Manage the library website, including databases Participate in reference and instructional programs Some evenings and weekends may be required Collaborate with the other library departments Engage in campus liaison activities Participate in regional consortia and campus work groups

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS ALA accredited MLS degree Academic library experience Excellent written and oral communication skills Demonstrated commitment to customer service PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Reference and instruction experience Familiarity with an ILS, preferably Millennium Supervisory experience Experience working with undergraduates Bilingual in Spanish Web development experience

Adams State College is located in Alamosa, CO and is a state-supported, primarily undergraduate institution. Alamosa is located in the San Luis Valley and is a rural, agriculture-based community. Alamosa is approximately 3.5 hours from both Denver and Albuquerque, NM. Alamosa is also 2 hours from Taos and 2.5 hours from Santa Fe.
