Job Description
-Provides original and copy cataloging and classification for all types of library materials; analyzes material to be cataloged; and catalogs materials according to current, national library cataloging standards and protocols and local procedures. -Assists in the review, maintenance and revision of authority and catalog files. -Serves as a resource to library staff needing assistance and information related to the library's bibliographic database and cataloging policies and procedures. -Participates in ongoing improvements to the library's online cataloging module assisting in the evaluation and testing of system upgrades and new products. -Represents the Cataloging unit at meetings, conferences and with external agencies as requested; and serves as member of various library system committees, attending meetings and providing input based on expertise and observations, as appropriate. -Attends training and workshops to acquire and maintain library-related skills and knowledge; reads and reviews professional literature to keep updated on current cataloging practices and high demand materials; may be assigned to provide staff training on cataloging concepts and use of standard library cataloging tools.Additional Info & Requirements

In order to support this vibrant online presence for our remote and our in-person users, we create complete, enhanced catalog records with summaries, contents notes and full subject access. We leverage that rich date through the Encore discovery interface, as well as through the Innovative classic catalog.
