Job Description

Job description: We are changing the way people think about libraries, but our products are still the cornerstone of our operation. You will be in charge of receiving our new materials from our vendors and routing them to the appropriate location. You control the flow of new materials through the district, ensuring all items are accurately accounted for, and you quickly address any quality issues that may arise. You feel like the luckiest person because as you open the deliveries containing our new products, you know you were the first to see the latest and greatest books and movies for our customers. Ready to join in a bold opportunity to help us take community library services to an entirely new dynamic realm? Who you are: •You are organized, detail-oriented, and keep things in tip-top order. •You have an easygoing nature, having the flexibility to change gears easily. •You’re a computer geek; you like computers and feel comfortable learning new software programs, creating reports, and organizing your electronic files. •You engage well with others and are passionate about providing an exemplary customer experience. •You’re a team player who thinks quickly on your feet. •You’re excited about the prospect of growing and learning in a changing environment. •You inspire fun in the people around you. A position you’ll love: •You take pride in being the materials dispatcher, receiving the new material, filing the hold requests and routing them to the appropriate location. •You love surprises. You look at receiving the stacks of new boxes as opening a bunch of gifts. Every day is your birthday here. •You are a wizard at verifying materials deliveries against invoices and reconciling with our integrated library system. •You’re a pro at maintaining electronic records for materials acquisitions. •You have a keen eye for performing quality control of materials that have been processed and cataloged by an outside agency. You quickly address any problems that arise by re-labeling and updating the catalog as necessary. •You are a genius with catalog clean-up; you can add data to a bibliographic record and do occasional copy cataloging of library materials. •You help the pay it forward process to get our books back by handling overdue and hold notices; you print, fold, staple and mail notices daily for the district. •You are comfortable with technology. You can manipulate a spreadsheet, tackle a copy machine for label printing and enter data into our Integrated Library System with pizzazz. •You enjoy being on the move; you will lift, stretch and push with muscles you didn’t even know you had. •Occasionally, you’re responsible for adding the finishing touches to our fabulous materials by processing them for circulation, including adding RFID tags, barcodes, branch stickers and jacket covers. •You are friendly and warm, and enjoying helping people. You assist in answering the phone for the Support Services area and help transfer people to the party they are looking for. •You have a passion for getting the materials out to our customers as quickly as possible. You are an explorer of efficiencies; you’re always looking for ways to improve processes to get our new materials out on the floor faster. •You are the first to lend a helping hand for the department and help with special projects as needed. •You have great ideas to share on district committees. •You are a lifelong learner, enjoying your journey of professional development. •You do the right thing. Every decision you make and action you take is an opportunity to demonstrate our collective integrity.
