Job Description

Location:Community Technology Center, Central Library, 13th & Broadway Status/Schedule: Regular, part-time, 20 hours per week. The schedule will be determined by the needs of the department and may include evening and weekend hours. The City and County of Denver benefit package will be offered. Background Information: This is an opportunity for a librarian who is innovative, creative and driven to join the Community Technology Center (CTC) team. It’s a role for a challenge seeker who has the desire to meet the various and changing needs of customers from the most basic to the cutting edge. The successful candidate will provide a customer-centered focus to guiding the development of a coordinated computing and training program at the Central Library. The CTC has recently opened into a new space, creating a large, convenient public computing center staffed by technology experts, interns and docents. The CTC currently consists of a small classroom with 12 workstations, a large 36-station classroom, two one-on-one consultation rooms and a large public access computing area with 94 computers. Duties and Responsibilities: Creates lifelong library customers by implementing services designed for customers of all ages seeking computer instruction and use. Works closely with staff and volunteers in the daily operations of the Central Library’s Community Technology Center. Develops and implements customer training and improved experiences related to computer usage at the Central Library. Assists customers with Public Access Computers. Plans and provides one-on-one and group training to customers on the use of online resources and common software such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Provides services to customers ranging from teens to adults, with both research and recreational needs. Communicates effectively with customers, staff, and administration. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of the Web, technology, online trends and popular culture. Skill in providing service to all ages and backgrounds. Skill in planning and providing training. Ability to train a wide variety of learners. Skill in demonstrating innovation and flexibility. Ability to bring a positive energy, excellent interpersonal skills, cultural sensitivity and a sense of humor to the workplace. Ability to thrive working in an environment with constant public contact and maintain positive staff relationships. Ability to embrace the challenge of learning new tools, software and technology. Ability to troubleshoot and accurately report technology problems. Ability to utilize PC reservation and print release systems, online calendaring, and circulation software. Spanish language skills desirable. Experience: Experience in providing high volume, innovative library service. Experience and proficiency using Microsoft Office and online tools. Experience with other software applications such as Photoshop and Quickbooks a plus. Experience offering customer technology classes preferred.
