Job Description

The Colorado School of Mines Foundation is expanding and enhancing its development staff in preparation for a major fundraising campaign and is seeking to fill the newly created position of Development Research Coordinator. S/he will report to the Development Research Manager and assist with compiling prospect research reports, maintaining advancement data and assisting with the expansion of donor and prospect pools to help achieve the CSM Foundation’s fundraising goals. Duties will include, but are not limited to: Prospect research using various media and online subscription tools to aid in providing accurate and strategic information to fundraising staff; assisting with compiling and updating prospect research reports; data input, maintenance and tracking; assisting with prospecting for new donors; special projects and other duties as assigned. The incumbent is expected to utilize a wide range of resources for research, including printed materials, online databases, community resources and existing files and records. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required. Minimum 1 year’s experience in non-profit fundraising, preferably in higher education; exceptional attention to detail; strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills; experience in utilizing major on-line databases; prospect research, development, or other relevant experience. Crucial is the ability to extract and gather information effectively from a variety of resources and organize and compile the information into professional reports. Must have a solid working knowledge of software applications, including Microsoft Suite, especially Word and Excel.
