Job Description

This new position will report to the Associate Director of Education, Research, and Information Services at the Auraria Library. The incumbent will work closely with the librarians and staff in Education, Research, and Information Services, with IT services, with Auraria Campus faculty, with other instructional designers on Campus, and with other members of the library staff to develop and deliver innovative instructional programming for our constituents. The position will design and create innovative, interactive information products, tools, services, and digital learning objects to provide high quality, user-focused learning experiences on an “anytime, anyplace” basis.

Examples of work performed include, but are not limited to: *Collaboratively designs and maintains learning environments and tools, including multimedia, digital, and web-based instruction modules, with Library employees. This collaboration includes training, mentoring, and coaching Library employees who will be using these tools to create and maintain information literacy and discipline-specific learning environments. *Facilitates the development of tools for the effective use of instructional technologies in information literacy instruction, instructional publications (print and digital), and tutorials in various formats for Library users. Works with Campus and Library colleagues to infuse informed learning and information literacy across the curriculum and among diverse learners. *Identifies points for technology integration into research, outreach, instruction, and information delivery services to improve those functions and actively participates in ERI Services by performing research help and library instruction. *Contributes to the ongoing usability testing and assessment of Library learning objects. *Helps to plan, develop and conduct faculty and staff development workshops in support of Library instructional design, resources, and services. MINIMUM QUALS: *Masters in instructional design, or instructional technology, or educational technology, or related degree. *One to three years demonstrated experience in instructional design or educational technology in a learning environment including online teaching, familiarity with research methodologies, and learning pedagogy. *Demonstrated experience with creating effective multimedia, digital, and web-based tools for instruction. Demonstrated knowledge and experience with course/learning management tools. Ability to identify and set priorities, manage projects, and meet deadlines. *Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including writing clear, concise documentation and effective public speaking. Include a writing sample. *Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment with a strong commitment to student learning *Initiative, flexibility, commitment to continuous learning PREFERED: *Skill in creating curriculum integration strategies for development and delivery of instructional programs for faculty and students using appropriate technologies and assessment measures. This includes instructional programs and information resources integration into the Campus learning environment through a strong knowledge of learning/course management systems (e.g. Blackboard, D2L, Live Text, and ecollege), a/synchronous conferencing applications (e.g. Adobe Connect), content management systems (e.g. Drupal, Wordpress, MOSS), and web 2.0 technologies (Facebook, Twitter, foursquare) *Embraces an environment of continual improvement and learning; thus, remains current in trends in information literacy pedagogy, learning theory, emergent teaching strategies, and educational technology/design. Shares this information with colleagues, thus actively participates in Auraria Library’s strongly held value of being a learning organization *Experience in applying instructional design/educational technology techniques and information literacy concepts in a higher education environment, including in academic libraries *Knowledge and experience with graphic design software(e.g. Photoshop, Illustrator, Fireworks) and with web authoring tools (e.g. Camtasia) *Experience working successfully with people from diverse cultural backgrounds, including students, international scholars, faculty, staff, and administrators.
