Job Description
• The Reference Librarian assists the Director of Learning Resources to provide reference service to JIU graduate students working on a doctoral degree at a distance. The Reference Librarian assists faculty with teaching research through one on one interaction and live online information sessions, and serves as the reference librarian dedicated to doctoral students. In addition, the Librarian designs innovative ways of researching online and develops advanced research guides and online tutorials for students.Additional Info & Requirements
Major Duties and Responsibilities: • Work remotely using the JIU library resources, the university learning platform, phone, email, and Skype • Participate in all dissertation courses to respond to student questions about finding resources, using the library, using EndNote, and correct APA style • Post in the doctoral course forums information about the libraries, EndNote, APA, and course-specific research information and resources • Regularly answer questions by email and Skype concerning how to find resources, EndNote, and APA Style • Proofread students’ work for proper APA style and compliance with the JIU publication manual • Research and design innovations in online research • Develop and maintain research guides and online tutorials at the doctoral level • Host regular (currently monthly) webinars on using the library, EndNote, and APA Style. • Be an advocate for using the library’s resourcesThe Community
