If you answered yes, the Sweetwater County Library System headquartered in Green River, Wyoming, is currently recruiting candidates for the position of Library Manager for the White Mountain Library located in Rock Springs, Wyoming. Located in beautiful southwest Wyoming, Rock Springs is the largest city in Sweetwater County while the second largest, Green River, is the county seat. Sweetwater County is home to 10,500 square miles of high desert adventure and offers excellent recreation opportunities, affordable housing and a variety of cultural activities to choose from. The Sweetwater County Library System has nine branch libraries and serves a diverse population of 43,806 in the southwest corner of the state. Successful Candidates for this position must have top-notch supervisory skills to manage the day-to-day operations of this key branch library. It is essential that the person in this position be able to direct the activities of others while maintaining excellent customer relations skills. Successful candidates must have superior abilities in the area of reference services, reader’s advisory, current reference tools, bibliographic sources and classification systems and the ability to apply this knowledge to assigned areas of responsibility. Successful candidates should also possess excellent organizational skills, report writing skills and a strong attention to detail. Additionally, operational support may be needed in the areas of circulation, statistical reporting, sound fiscal planning and management, opening and closing of the branch, collection development, making presentations and directing the daily branch operations. Candidates must have professional skills in community outreach and adult programming including the ability to communicate well with both internal and external stakeholders. Candidates must have a thorough knowledge of current trends, technology and “best practices” for public libraries. Experience working with a large staff and working with diverse populations is a plus. Verbal, written and computer skills are essential. The state of Wyoming does not have a personal income tax.
