Job Description

Coordinate program budgets with Finance and department managers, monitoring and channeling program purchase order requests to Finance. Assist Administration with creating program guidelines and a Library program policy. Review, select, and implement programs of high interest to TSCPL's diverse users. Plan, organize, and evaluate programs to meet Library goals for increased service to the community. Initiate & develop a Speakers Bureau. Proactively seek programming that supports the mission and organizational priorities of the Library. Maintain awareness of unique cultural issues that have an impact on specific communities served by TSCPL and initiate and refer programming ideas to appropriate units and personnel within the Library. Advise and assist with implementation of new programs to generate increased awareness and utilization of TSCPL services. Conduct program marketing research, maintain knowledge of trends in the community, reporting on trends, gaps, and partnering opportunities. Initiates and maintains communication and partnerships with other agencies, non-profits, arts, and cultural organizations in the community. Works with staff, The Library Foundation, and Friends of TSCPL to identify external funding sources. Maintain the web access to all programming forms and organizes any shared completed forms on the network. Maintain the consolidated web calendar for all departments. Enable communication between programmers and Public Relations and is responsible for enforcing publicity and scheduling deadlines for programmers. Supply facts and information to PR for written content for brochures, fliers, press releases, catalogs, and more as needed. Check overlap of program dates and times. Work closely with the Events Coordinator, providing backup coverage for scheduling events when necessary. Act as a liaison and resource for staff involved in planning and implementing programs. Train and advise Library staff on the development, planning, implementation, and facilitation of events, programs, classes, and projects. Coordinate activities of support staff or services such as book orders, catering, interpreters, and volunteers. Track all services needed to support each program. Initiate and coordinate activity of Programming Council. Conduct follow up including evaluation information as needed. Collects and compiles use and attendance statistics. Conduct personal interviews with staff about ideas to make programs more successful. Work with PR to initiate and support opportunities to create awareness of Library programming and exhibitions. If needed, maintains email and address databases for the monthly brochure and programming notices.

An organizational priority of TSCPL is the analysis and improvement of the administrative process for providing public programs. This position works with Administration to fit programming into the Library organization from the standpoint of organizational capacity and ensure effective and relevant program development and delivery. This highly visible position will be one of the Library's "faces" for the community and will form and nurture partnerships within TSCPL and its community in order to identify, develop, and deliver impactful and relevant public programs. Familiarity with computer and AV equipment. Knowledge of blended learning programs (e.g. WBT, ILT, distance learning). Strong customer service orientation. Knowledge of merchandising and display techniques. Demonstrated project management ability. Strong organizational and planning skills.
