Job Description

This position serves as the library/media specialist for Laramie Junior High School (650 students in grades 6-9). The position provides instruction on library usage to students, works collaboratively with teachers on student projects, maintains the library books, materials, and technology, and provides inservice to teachers on use of technology.

The Community

Laramie, Wyoming, is located two hours north of Denver. It is the home of the University of Wyoming and located in country favored by the outdoor enthusiast. Wyoming does not have a state income tax, and the District pays both the District's and the employee's share of the Wyoming Retirement System premiums. The District pays a substantial portion of family medical/dental insurance premiums.

Candidates must hold, or be eligible to hold, a certificate issued by the Wyoming Professional Teaching Standards Board with an endorsement as a library/media specialist. Other desired qualifications include: Excellent oral and written communication skills; knowledgeable about curriculum materials for junior high students; good background in technology; able to support school goals through the library/media program; ability to work well with junior high students and staff members; ability and willingness to work with teachers to complement their instruction and curricular programs through library activities; and willingness to participate on school and district committees and in required inservice activities.
