Job Description

The Librarian I/Young Adult & Adult Services position is part-time (20 hours per week), and is responsible professional work within the City's Library Services Division, reporting to the Adult Library Services Coordinator. Primary responsibilities include providing Reference and Readers’ Advisory services at the College Hill Library and might work occasionally at the Irving Street Library. Duties also include selection of materials for young adult audio-visual collections, providing programs and outreach for young adults, and creating material displays. Incumbent will be required to work some evenings and weekends, including every Sunday. Education, Experience, Skills, Formal Training, Licenses, and Certifications - Required: Graduation from an accredited, four-year college; Master’s Degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited program; previous library experience in a professional level position in public services. Preferred: Previous library experience in a professional level position with young adult services; Spanish language skills. Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience, which would provide the required knowledge and skills, may be considered.
