Job Description

20% LIAISON - Liaisons with Spanish community groups and facilitates partnerships with other community service agencies by meeting with representatives and encouraging community participation in the library in order to promote use of library services to Spanish language patrons. 20% COLLECTION - Selects library materials in Spanish by researching vendors, previewing materials, negotiating prices, preparing purchase order requests, and reviewing invoices for accuracy; and, advises on the cataloging and processing of such materials by creating guidelines in order to make collections of materials in Spanish available to Library District patrons. 25% PROGRAMS AND SERVICE - Produces library programs and provides service for Spanish speaking patrons by assessing needs, developing or coordinating English language programs and services for non-English speakers, conducting Book-a-Librarian sessions, answering Spanish hunt group questions, and evaluating results in order to promote English literacy and the use of library resources and services. 10% TRANSLATION - Serves patrons by translating library programs and materials, and researching genre and format areas in order to satisfy patron requests for materials and programs in Spanish. 15% WEBSITE – Provides website information to patrons by creating content on Library District Spanish webpage, monitor and add content/titles to various webpage areas, write staff picks, and collaborates with Digital Services on changes and enhancements to the Spanish webpage in order to provide Spanish-speaking patrons with access to information. 10% MENTORING - Develops the knowledge, skill and ability of paraprofessional staff by mentoring them in order expand their ability to service patron requests.

Additional Info & Requirements

Experience with developing and conducting instructional programs and services,preferred. Advanced technology skills, including advanced assessment scores for Windows, Word, Excel, Internet Explorer, and Outlook, required. Fluency in English and Spanish languages, required. Ability to travel between work locations as necessary, required.

Established in 1966, the Arapahoe Library District serves more than 200,000 residents living in Arapahoe County. Arapahoe County and other major suburban counties make up the greater metropolitan area surrounding Denver, Colorado. The Arapahoe Library District operates eight branch libraries, an Outreach Service that provides mobile library services, and a library at the County Detention Center, funded by the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Department. A seven-member Board of Trustees sets the library budget and determines policy.
