Job Description

DESCRIPTION: Plans and coordinates branch art displays, cultural and educational programs and events. Assists with the development, marketing and delivery of library programming and special events for all ages, including youth, adults and seniors. Also promotes and assists with district-wide programming events at the branch level, in conjunction with the Community Relations department. Serves as liaison between Community Relations and branch staff by disseminating information for and collecting feedback about district programs. "Starting salary will be adjusted commensurate with the candidate's knowledge, skills and abilities." EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: • Plans and coordinates branch programming events. Responsible for the development, marketing and facilitation of the library programs, in collaboration with other branch staff members. • Serves as the point of contact between the branch and the Community Relations department. Communicates concerns, ideas and feedback between the branch and the Community Relations department. • Enters all programs, PR requests and attendance numbers into the Events system. • Assists with district and branch programs as needed, which may include technology support, meeting room set-up (lifting/moving meeting room equipment (tables & chairs), introduction of programs, and coordination of volunteer efforts. • Serves as the branch point person for the district reading programs, handling all statistics, inventory and prizes. • Manages and maintains all phases of the branch’s meeting room scheduling and maintenance. • Manages and maintains the monthly branch events calendar and the branch bulletin boards. • Oversees branch outreach activities including entering and reporting statistics, as well as maintaining outreach materials and displays. • Reads appropriate library literature and attends seminars, workshops, etc. when possible to stay abreast of innovative library programs. • Serves as the branch’s Programming Committee representative. • Selects and schedules art displays for the branch. • Coordinates museum installations. • Cultivates community partnerships on behalf of the branch and in coordination with the Community Relations department. • Promotes DCL’s culture of safety by following library safety policy guidelines and safety rules. Practices effective personal and branch safety. • Performs other work duties as assigned.

Additional Info & Requirements

We have two positions available, both are full-time @ 32 hours per week. One is located at the Castle Pines Library (also supports the Lone Tree Library), and the other is at the Parker Library. Starting salary will be adjusted commensurate with the candidate's knowledge, skills and abilities.• Ability to clearly and succinctly communicate ideas and thoughts both verbally and in writing is required. • Position requires excellent interpersonal and social skills that demonstrate tact, diplomacy and the ability to cooperate with and motivate others in a variety of library committee and community group settings. • Must possess demonstrated knowledge and experience in planning and coordinating programs and special events for small and large audiences, and for diverse age and interest groups. • Excellent organization skills, multitasking skills and time management skills are required. Strong attention to details and accuracy is required. • Must have the ability to work independently with minimum supervision. • Experience working with volunteers is desired. • Computer Skills: Must demonstrate competency in computer use including internet, email, Microsoft Office Products (or equivalent). Keyboard skills required at an equivalent of typing 35 words per minute with minimal errors. Must be able to learn and become proficient with equipment and software programs as required to effectively and efficiently perform assigned duties. • Physical Abilities: Must have the physical ability, stamina, mobility and manual dexterity to deliver program and marketing materials to branches and groups. Must be able to lift and carry/move audiovisual equipment, meeting room equipment (chairs and tables), supplies and other presentation materials. Also required to work at computer workstations, repetitively for extended periods. Must be able to read a minimum 8 point font, regularly. Participate in meetings or events at various locations and hours, as required. On an occasional basis, tolerate residual smoke, dust, mold or foreign substances on materials. • Education: Bachelor’s degree or Associate degree is preferred in Communications, Marketing, Education or related fields. • Experience: A minimum of one year of experience with coordinating programs in a public agency, non-profit or for profit organization (arts, cultural and/or education organization) is preferred.
