Job Description

Location: Woodbury Branch Library 3265 Federal Blvd. at W. 33rd Ave. This position will also work at other locations throughout the Denver Public Library system. Duties and Responsibilities: Creates positive experiences for library customers by preparing and presenting informational and educational materials, courses, lectures, and in service instruction for children and adults. Conducts subject research and documentation. Provides library services and resources to a diverse customer base that includes new immigrants and their families. Performs special assignments and reports directly to cluster manager. Focuses on adult programming with concurrent children’s programs as part of a bilingual and intergenerational environment. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of training and development practices. Knowledge of library operations, research resources and reader guidance. Skill in communicating and establishing effective working relationships with employees, volunteers, organizations and the public. Skill in presenting information to groups of adults or children. Skill in designing, preparing, training, implementing and evaluating professional instruction and training programs. Skill in reading aloud clearly, concisely and with expression. Skill in communicating and establishing effective working relationships with employees, volunteers, organizations and the public. Ability to exercise initiative, judgment, and decision making in solving problems and meeting organizational objectives. Ability to relate to the needs of patrons of all ages. Ability to thrive working in an environment with constant public contact with people from all backgrounds and age groups. Ability to demonstrate positive attitude, excellent interpersonal skills, cultural sensitivity, and a sense of humor in working with customers, coworkers, and community. Ability to research and compile information. Ability to make appropriate choices of materials for programming and outreach. Experience: Two years of experience teaching or presenting information to a variety of audiences. Must have general computer literacy, including experience with Internet and database searching. Education: Bachelor’s degree in related field.

Additional Info & Requirements

EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER Status/Schedule: Limited-term, full-time, 40 hours per week. The schedule will be determined by the needs of the department and will include evening and weekend hours. This is a fully benefited temporary position that is scheduled to end on or before July 30, 2013 with potential for longer employment. Special Requirements: Spanish language skills are strongly preferred. A background check must be passed after the offer to hire has been made.
