Job Description

The Kraemer Family Library seeks applications from qualified librarians for a temporary part-time reference librarian position. As a member of the Reference department and the User Services team, this position is responsible for providing reference assistance at a general reference desk up to 19 hours/week for a limited number of months during the fall and spring semesters. Reference includes questions received in person, by telephone, by email and by chat.

The successful candidate for this position will be appointed as a temporary part-time lecturer. Salary range is $18-20/hour depending upon qualifications. No benefits are available with this position.Required Education/Experience/Skills: - Master’s degree from an ALA-accredited library school - Experience, coursework or demonstrated awareness of reference work - Initiative and demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively - Excellent oral and written communication skills Desired Qualifications: - Post-MLS library reference experience in an academic setting

The Community

The Colorado Springs campus of the University of Colorado was established in 1965. The student population is approximately 7650. Most students are commuters, but campus housing is available for about 900 students. Doctoral degrees are offered in engineering, geropsychology, educational leadership and nursing practice. The campus also has graduate programs in business, public administration, and a variety of arts and science areas. Colorado Springs, located at the foot of Pikes Peak, has a population of approximately 500,000, with tourism, high technology, manufacturing, sports and the military ranking as the key industries within the community.
