Job Description

The Library Clerk I/II position is specialized library clerical work assisting in the operation of the library's circulation and providing exceptional customer service to library patrons. Incumbents in this position welcome library users and serve as the first point-of-entry to an engaging and positive library experience. This includes actively greeting customers, observing and responding to their needs, and assisting in creating a customer-friendly environment for library users. Position requires working some evenings, weekends, and holidays, along with willingness to travel to work at both City library facilities. Recruiting for one (1) part-time (20 hours per week) benefited Library Clerk I/II position. Hours are: Monday 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday 1:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and rotating Saturday/Sunday, shifts from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Additional Info & Requirements

Required: • Must be 18 years of age or older • Graduation from high school or GED • Cash handling experience • Experience in clerical or general library work • Strong experience and skills in providing superior customer service Preferred: • Above-average computer skills and experience • Bilingual fluent in English and Spanish and/or Hmong is preferred in some of the Library Clerk positions Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience, which would provide the required knowledge and skills, may be considered.
