The Head of Research and Instruction Services is a dynamic and strategic manager of the daily operations and staff for collection development, research assistance, and instruction services for Auraria Library. This is a tenure-track faculty position that reports to the Associate Director for Education, Research, and Information Services. This position coordinates the work of the Library's Subject Teams which are charged with fulfilling the educational missions of the Auraria Library and the three institutions on the Auraria Campus-the University of Colorado Denver, the Metropolitan State College of Denver, and the Community College of Denver. This position is an active member of the Library's Professional Studies Subject Team, which is comprised of subject specialists with knowledge of disciplinary content areas, educational approaches and learning pedagogy, library research strategies, and/or collection development and evaluation. The Professional Studies Team disciplines include public affairs/administration, international or governmental studies/affairs, business, hospitality, health administration, sports & leisure, criminal justice, and law. Position Classification and Salary: This is a tenured/tenure-track faculty position with a minimum salary of $60,000 commensurate with skills, experience, and rank. The incumbent may be initially appointed as a non-tenure track, senior instructor and then moved into a tenure-track position effective July 1, 2012. To be appointed with tenure, one must be tenured at a comparable academic institution and meet the Auraria Library's criteria for tenure and promotion. Information on University benefits programs, including eligibility is located at http://www.cusys.edu/pbs Examples of Work Performed: -Supervises librarians and staff with primary responsibility for collection development, research, and instruction services within the Subject Team environment. Creates annual goals and participates in strategic planning for these areas with the ERI Services Leadership Team which reports to the Associate Director. -Working with Subject Teams, the Instruction Project Leader, and the Instructional Designer, creates curriculum integration strategies for development and delivery of high-quality, learner-centered instructional programs for faculty and students using appropriate technologies and evaluative measures. -As an active member of the Library Professional Studies Subject Team, cultivates and sustains collaborations with academic faculty to enhance teaching and learning success in the Professional Studies disciplines through curriculum integration of the Library strategic plan goals of informed learning and information literacy -Teaches Library instruction classes in one or more of the Professional Studies areas in both a f2f and online environment. -Designs, implements, and evaluates learning partnerships both programmatically and with individual academic faculty within the Professional Studies disciplines. -Conceptualizes, implements, delivers, and promotes research help services (virtual and f2f) across a large, complex, and rapidly changing information landscape. Furthers the integration of technology into the Library's research services program, including involvement in continuous quality improvements aimed at (re)designing services to most effectively meet the needs of Library users and thereby position the Library as a recognized contributor to student, faculty, and staff learning. -Adopts/adapts, develops, and promotes new and technologically innovative information tools, services, and digital learning materials to be used in or outside the classroom to meet the 'anytime, anyplace' information needs of the campus' tri-institutional constituencies. -Other duties as assigned including the possibility of working nights and weekends as needed.
