Job Description

The University of Colorado Boulder Libraries invites applications from innovative and enthusiastic service-oriented professionals for the position of Business Collections and Reference Librarian. This librarian participates as a member of the team that designs and implements the business library’s reference services in all milieus, including library instruction, reference of all kinds in electronic and print sources, and special projects as needed. Other responsibilities are supervision of one staff member, collection development activities, maintenance of a small government documents collection, and participation as a member of the academic community. The William M. White Business Library provides branch library services to the students and faculty of the Leeds School of Business as well as to other members of the University community. The library specializes in services and collections for the various subjects of business. This is a tenure-track faculty position reporting to the head of the business library. Significant parts of the responsibilities of this position are research and creative work and service in keeping with the tenure standards of the University of Colorado Boulder.

APPOINTMENT AND SALARY: The successful candidate will be appointed as a full-time (12 month) tenure-stream faculty member. Depending upon demonstrated accomplishments in scholarly activity, creative work, and service, appointment will be at the senior instructor, assistant professor, or associate professor level. Minimum starting salary is $48,888. Benefits include 22 working days of vacation, ten paid holidays, liberal sick leave, university group health care plans, group life insurance, TIAA/CREF or other retirement/annuity, and support for scholarly/professional activities. Tenured librarians are eligible for sabbatical leave.POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Master’s degree from an ALA-accredited library school by December 31, 2011; minimum of one year of experience in a business library, including reference and collection development; coursework and/or experience with current information technologies and their applications to reference and instructional services; initiative, creativity, and flexibility to work effectively in a rapidly changing service environment; effective oral and communication skills; strong interpersonal skills; and demonstrated potential for research, scholarly, and/or professional achievement at a national level. DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: Experience in providing instructional services to university/college students; experience in searching business databases in a Web environment; coursework/degree in business fields; and experience with basic Web development, computer programming, and design.
