Job Description

Jones e-global library is looking for a full-time collection development librarian on a temp to hire basis to create and manage the development of digital collections. The Digital Collections Librarian (DCL) will be responsible for the identification, acquisitions, classification, accessibility, and maintenance of digital resources for the Jones e-global library collections. The DCL will work with stakeholders to identify digital resource needs and formulate the scope of various digital collections. The DCL will review and monitor trends and developments in digital libraries in regards to collection development and related practices. The DCL will devise and revise operating procedures and workflows; improve access to digitized content through ongoing evaluation of the digital services; investigate relevant standards and best practices and maintain compliance with standards, including metadata standards; investigate, plan, and manage format conversions and migrations; develop an in-depth knowledge of new technology; seek collaboration opportunities and partnerships with other libraries, institutions, and content vendors; and develop curation plans for digital content in repositories. The DCL will be responsible for collection development of open access digital materials and monitor trends in open access metadata management, harvesting methods, and protocols. This is a full-time temporary position with potential for hire into a full-time position.
