Job Description

Responsibilities: This full-time State of Colorado IT Technician II classified position is responsible for coordinating and providing technical support for all aspects of CU AMC student email, assisting with HSL Information Commons and assisting with other library tasks as needed. Specific duties include training users in the proper use of email software; assisting with internet training; answering technical questions; maintaining documents on student e-mail; coordinating meetings and seminars for students and school technology representatives on e-mail related topics; diagnosing and solving email and internet problems; assisting the library’s IT staff with hardware and software issues; creating and maintaining Resource Guides using LibGuides software; performing minor web editing and web administration; assisting patrons with personalized computer software and audiovisual assistance; coordinating with Education and Reference Department to conduct trials of educational software and technologies; providing AV support for meeting rooms; and performing general library services which includes answering phones, checking materials in and out, programming photocopy cards, searching for missing materials, assisting patrons, and assisting patrons with reference books, indexes and abstracts. Position is responsible for serving as a backup for troubleshooting proxy-related resource access issues. This position will also work with Web Services Librarian and other staff to create visual news headlines for the library home page. This position requires thorough knowledge of hardware and software with the ability to effectively troubleshoot problems with workstations, laptops, networking products, printers, scanners, media drives and other computing equipment. The candidate must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, students, staff, and end-users; act as a team player with the ability to work independently; and be able to organize work, set priorities and meet critical time deadlines. Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential as well as the ability to maintain emotional control under stress and maintain a positive attitude when dealing with end-users. The position may require occasional prolonged and irregular hours, daily lifting and carrying of heavy objects (45+ pounds) and walking, standing, bending, stooping and/or climbing for the majority of a day
