Job Description

PURPOSE: Under limited supervision, performs supervisory, managerial, administrative, training, patron service, research, planning, and coordination work for the Jefferson County Public Library. Work involves overseeing day to-day operations of assigned staff, serving as a member of system-wide committees, overseeing expenditures of operating budgets for unit, and maintaining the safe operation of the assigned facility. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Provides overall supervision and direction of the assigned library, including participating in development of long range plans for library programs and services; scheduling and assigning staff; requesting facility or equipment maintenance services, as necessary; responding to patron complaints; responding to disturbances or emergencies; and resolving problems and/or contacting emergency response personnel, as appropriate. Plans, organizes, administers and coordinates library services for the assigned library; administers or makes recommendations on personnel matters affecting subordinates, including interviewing and hiring, training, assigning, scheduling, appraising, disciplining, etc.; oversees personnel and materials budgets; officiates at unit head and library meetings; and prepares and submits various reports and records as required by Library management.
