Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities: Produces and develops web servers on a Unix platform. Provides hardware and software technical support for library computer systems, peripherals, and library software. Installs and configures information system networks and clients, including hardware, operating systems software and patches, application software and communication systems on multiple platforms including Unix and Windows. Configures and maintains backup systems on a set schedule. Researches, tests, and implements technologies on both new and existing systems to automate end user operations. Writes or modifies software programs and creates written materials including documentation, manuals, and training guides. Provides support in administering other systems. Works with network administrator in configuring and managing IPS/IDS and Cisco Firewall Services Module. Works closely with other staff, consultants and end users to provide timely execution and support for business systems, planning, implementation, and increased system uptimes. Performs other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of current networking topics, computer trends, and server technology and administration. Knowledge of data security according to the PCI-DSS 2.0. Knowledge of service configurations including cron, file systems, kernel parameters, networking interfaces, LDAP, sendmail, transports and transport protocols including TCP/IP, Ethernet, MPLS, SMTP, HTTP and HTTPS, and backup software/hardware (current focus is Netbackup). Skill in interpreting data to effectively communicate and present information to groups of managers, peers, and project teams. Ability to remediate security vulnerabilities. Ability to implement methodologies to ensure data integrity and assist in disaster recovery. Ability to creatively solve problems, negotiate and handle stressful situations in a positive manner. Ability to work with a diverse group of people in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work independently and communicate project status and ideas to the Supervisor and the team in appropriate formats. Ability to actively collaborate and contribute to team with a positive attitude. Ability to multi-task and prioritize. Ability to demonstrate innovation and flexibility. Experience: Two years of professional Information Technology experience with maintaining, implementing and modifying IT systems. Experience with PCI-DSS, APM, NPM, DNS, scripting using shell, perl, C, C++, content management systems (current focus is on Drupal), web server applications (ColdFusion) and database server administration (MySQL, SQL Server). Experience with hardware types and configurations; OS configurations and installation; troubleshooting OS client and server platforms including Windows Server, Solaris, and Red Hat; network connectivity; disk storage systems, and logical systems design. Special Requirements: A background check must be passed after the offer to hire has been made.
