Job Description

Position Summary: This is a 12 month, tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor. Reporting to the Head of Information Management Services, this position provides expertise and leadership in the procurement of all information resources and licensing, management, and support of ongoing access to electronic resources purchased by the CSU-Pueblo Library as well as the shared consortial resources purchased for the Colorado State University System and affiliated institutions. Collaborating with administration and library faculty and staff, this position also contributes to the planning, development, coordination and implementation of departmental initiatives. Responsibilities include overseeing the implementation and use of ordering, open URL linking, and electronic resource management systems, budgeting, analyzing usage statistics, licensing, and supervising staff. Duties and Responsibilities: As a member of the Information Management Team, this position will participate in projects as defined by the team. The major job responsibilities for this position include the following: Collection Analysis & Development: Coordinate, with input from Collection Development Committee, comprehensive collection development plan that supports Library’s strategic goals. Coordinate and lead efforts in assessment and weeding of the collection. Coordinate development by liaisons of all print, digital, and multimedia collections in support of the University curriculum. Gather and disseminate usage data to Library Dean, Department Head, and liaisons for all print and electronic resources. Resource Procurement: Track and manage budget set by Library Dean and Department Head for the procurement of Information Resources and Services. Oversee online ordering systems (GOBI). Oversee purchasing and accounting using III Millennium acquisitions module and campus financial systems. Develop vendor relations and negotiate discounts and payment with publishers. Effectively manage both print and electronic journal subscriptions with vendors Initiate trials requested by library liaisons. Review and negotiate licenses for electronic resources chosen for purchase. Approve gifts and donations through other libraries and private donors recommended for acceptance by Acquisitions Technician. Submit statistical reports to the Division Head and Dean. Electronic Resource Management: Oversee online systems for managing electronic resources including ERM module and linkresolver/AtoZ. Manage ongoing access to electronic resources including proxy server configurations and maintenance of links on library website for electronic resources. Administration: Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate classified and/or contract staff in Acquisitions/ERM department. Develop and communicate departmental goals and objectives to staff. Create and maintain job descriptions, policies, and procedures for staff. Provide reference and instruction services, including some nights and weekends. Provide one-on-one assistance at reference desk. Provide virtual reference services as scheduled. Perform specialized database searching as needed. Teach courses for library instruction program including classes in the liaison area. Serve as liaison to one or more academic departments, helping to coordinate collection management and instruction for the assigned subject areas. Perform sustained inquiry into discipline leading to practical application within the library as well as research resulting in published or presented scholarly or creative output. Serve the Library, the University, and the Profession through active membership on boards, committees, panels, etc.

Additional Info & Requirements

Experience in a position that required an understanding of current models, practices, trends, and tools used by academic libraries for acquisitions, access and discoverability of e-resources, such as open URL access, web scale discovery, and electronic resource management software. Ability to demonstrate current awareness of national trends and developments in cataloging, metadata standards and information retrieval, including RDA and FRBR. Experience implementing, managing, and troubleshooting acquisitions processes for e-resources, monographs and/or media in a consortial and/or an academic environment (licensing, access provision, electronic resource management, web-scale discovery tools). Experience in acquisitions, serials, or electronic resources experience, preferably in an academic or research library. Proficiency with using relational databases, spreadsheets and/or other similar tools. Demonstrated successful supervisory experience in a collaborative, team-based organization. Experience with integrated library systems (Millennium), ERM systems, and web proxy servers (EZproxy). Ability to demonstrate appropriate professional qualifications including excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and public service orientation. Experience providing reference and instruction services in an academic library.
