Job Description

Librarian Working Title: Reference Librarian (Recruitment ID: CRLI08-20059) CLOSING DATE: Open Until Filled FULL HIRING RANGE: $3,564.00 - $4,192.00 per month DEPARTMENT: Department of Administration and Information, State Library LOCATION: Cheyenne CLASS CODE: CRLI08 FLSA: Exempt GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF WORK: Under general supervision, respond to a wide variety of reference questions with accurate and timely information. Manage all aspects of an electronic inter library loan service. Develop strategies and work plans for various digital content projects. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Provide responses to a wide range of complex and basic inquiries and requests for information from all types of constituents. Maintain professional knowledge of multiple library and information subjects through reading professional literature, attending workshops and conferences, and utilizing online training. Effectively communicate the scope and purpose of the State Library to state employees, the state’s library community and the general public. Create, manage and disseminate information and library products for various constituencies within agency initiatives, standards, contracts and grants. Develop plans, procedures and content of library and information products that improve the quality of work and information used by individuals in their professional and personal capacities. Participate in library, intergovernmental and community projects that strengthen libraries as portals for information, community partners and professional agencies. Oversee project development and training. Maintain communications with vendors and colleagues around the country regarding development products, problem resolutions, training, and sharing of best practices. Develop innovative solutions to program challenges and think creatively in solving problems. Effectively coordinate and organize program activities, services, and schedules with others in the work unit. Demonstrate leadership and professionalism within the library and the state’s library community. Participate in unit and State Library planning to deliver continuing quality services, information, and products that increase the knowledge, skills, and abilities of library workers statewide. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: Skill in interpersonal communications. Skill in oral and written communications. Knowledge of reference services and information management. Knowledge of principals and best practice in digitization, database development, and product development. Ability to plan and implement library projects in both individual and team environments. Skill in organizing and managing overlapping projects and multiple priorities. Knowledge of governments and their organization.
