Job Description

The Libraries at the University of Northern Colorado (UNC) http://library.unco.edu seeks a creative, enthusiastic individual for the position of Instructional Services Librarian and Assistant Professor of University Libraries, position number F99996. This is a contract-renewable position that reports to the Head of Instructional Services. The Instructional Services Department is committed to designing and facilitating dynamic learning experiences for all students. The Instructional Services Librarian is responsible for teaching credit-bearing information literacy courses face-to-face and online through Blackboard as well as developing and delivering course-specific instruction sessions. The individual will also participate in campus and community outreach activities, such as new student orientation, and liaise with target populations. The successful candidate is expected to conduct ongoing assessments of student learning and contribute to departmental assessment projects. The individual in this position will create and maintain web guides, tutorials, and digital learning objects. Other duties include providing reference services. The successful candidate must have strong interpersonal skills, the ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing and the ability to work both collaboratively and independently.

REQUIRED: • Earned master’s degree from an ALA-accredited library school or program by start date • At least 2 years of experience teaching in an academic library setting • Experience with course management systems • Experience with screen capture and/or video-editing software and creating digital learning objects, tutorials, or modules • Experience providing reference service PREFERRED: • Experience teaching credit-bearing information literacy courses • Experience developing credit-bearing information literacy modules or courses • Experience with classroom assessment techniques
