Job Description

Provides archival arrangement for manuscript collections. Determines priorities based on content and condition of documents. Describes materials according to content and physical characteristics and creates original finding aids in EAD. Performs research and analysis of library materials. Provides in-person and email reference assistance to customers. Responsible for proctoring two or more shifts per week in the reading room. Knowledge of on-line information retrieval methods. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other employees, organizations and the public. Skill in independently adapting, interpreting and applying written guidelines, precedents and standardized work practices to a variety of unprecedented or problematic situations. Skill in obtaining information relative to the work. Skill in exercising initiative, judgment, and decision making in solving problems and meeting organizational objectives. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to work with a diverse group of people.

Additional Info & Requirements

This is a fully benefited temporary position that will end in approximately one year with potential for longer employment.Two years of library or archives experience. Experience in performing historical research required. A background check must be passed after the offer to hire has been made.
