Job Description

Summary: Reporting to the Director, provides management and oversight of the District’s communications, grant writing, and fundraising Develops and maintains a comprehensive program to identify, cultivate, solicit, secure and steward new and existing funding sources Writes grant proposals and administers grants with Management Team and staff, building cooperation and collaboration Oversight of all promotional materials, press releases, and graphic design Oversight of website development and updates Active participant on Management Team Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Grants Works with Management Team and staff to identify needs and develop projects for potential funding Identifies and keeps aware of grant prospects Works with Management Team, staff, and project teams to clarify project goals, objectives and activities and to prepare project budgets Works with Program and Outreach Manager to prepare AEFLA and literacy grants and proposals Writes proposals and submits to the director for review before filing deadlines Maintains grant statistics and promotional materials related to grant proposals Maintains electronic and paper files for all funders and grants Works with staff to obtain updates and statistics on progress made on achieving goals, objectives and activities Works with bookkeeper to prepare reports on expenditures and expenses for grant programs Writes reports according to grant guidelines and deadlines with submission to Director for review before filing deadlines with funders Reports monthly to Director on current and upcoming grants and projects for inclusion in monthly Board of Trustees packets Public Relations Prepares publicity and marketing plans for the District Oversight of all publicity materials, radio spots, and newspaper submissions for the Library District Receives calendars and flyers from Managers and supervises weekly press releases Writes feature stories and press releases for newspapers Prepares and designs advertisements for media Oversight of graphic design of flyers, posters and other handout materials Oversight of website and supervision of website assistant Prepares advocacy and marketing campaigns as needed Works with DCL Board of Trustees Advocacy Committee to plan advocacy and outreach Conducts outreach with local non-profits and community organizations to plan collaborations and projects Foundation Assists Director and Board of Trustees to activate District Foundation Develops a plan to cultivate donors, establish an endowment, and provide acknowledgement of donors Works with Friends and Foundation groups in the District to promote cooperation and collaboration Assists with outreach and publicity activities for Friends and Foundation groups

Additional Info & Requirements

Minimum five years’ experience in nonprofit and/or governmental sector, including fundraising and grant writing experience Excellent writing skills Highly organized and detail-oriented Proficiency in technology and software including PC computers, Microsoft Word and Excel Experience in website management, design and maintenance, required Ability to plan and supervise promotional and PR campaigns in various formats and media including use of social media Proficiency with non-profit or governmental budgeting Commitment to promoting Public Libraries and their mission Supervisory experience and grant administration experience required Office space for this position is in the administration area in the Hotchkiss Library Building, but the job requires District-wide travel and collaboration. May require evening and/or weekend hours.
