Job Description

The Colorado State Library is looking for a dynamic and innovative leader to join the Network and Resource Sharing team as a Technology Consultant. •Are you a CMS master eager to bend content management systems (including Plinkit (Plone), WordPress, and Drupal) to your will? •Are you a technology enthusiast eager to share information, provide training, and recommend best practices for using technology to enhance library services? •Are you a creative spirit with the skills needed to develop, design, and deliver training in a variety of formats including in-person and online? • Do you have a passion for customer service and enjoy collaborating with others? •.Are you organized and able to juggle several projects at the same time? •Are you interested in seeing more of the beautiful state of Colorado? We want you to submit an application for this exciting position! Responsibilities: 1. Provide hands-on production, maintenance and training associated with web sites hosted on any of the State Library’s three content management systems: Plinkit (Plone), WordPress, and Drupal. A core focus will be Plinkit-hosted library web sites and the Colorado Virtual Library. 2. Contribute collaboratively and through leadership as a member of the Coordinators subcommittee of the national Plinkit Collaborative. 3. Provide consultation and training to libraries on best practices for use of technology to enhance services, including instructional technology and presentation tools, web, screencasting and podcasting, and electronic resources. 4. Contribute hands-on to the design and creation of training modules for libraries, occasionally creating content from scratch or using content provided by various State Library units. Coordinates actively with other staff members performing similar work. 5. Collaborate with systems administrator and senior developer on development, maintenance, and administration of various intranet and project sites in support of Colorado library organizations and initiatives. 6. Other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor.

Additional Info & Requirements

Minimum Qualifications: 1. Two or more years of experience with HTML and CSS, Javascript, PHP, XML and web analytics. 2. Two or more years of experience with the use and/or administration of a content management system: Drupal, WordPress or similar CMS. 3. Experience with basic digital image manipulation. 4. Experience developing and delivering online and face-to-face instruction and training. 5. Strong background in customer service required. 6. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 7. Able to work independently and as part of a team. 8. Proven experience with project management and juggling multiple demands. 9. Willingness to do some in-state travel (mostly day trips, occasionally overnight). Preferred Qualifications: 1. Master’s degree in library science, or library/media, educational technology, or information science master’s degree, or equivalent relevant work experience. 2. Knowledge of current educational technology and/or instructional design trends and tools. 2. Experience with basic audio editing and basic digital video editing. 3. Able to prioritize independently and identify when to seek input in setting priorities. 4. Professional library experience, including technology use, in a school, public, academic or special library.
