Additional Info & Requirements

Broad Scope of Position: Position reports to the Assistant Commissioner of the Colorado State Library and manages the CVL state budget line item appropriation for library services and the budgeting and contractual arrangements for staff and vendor-delivered products related to CVL services and programs. This position supervises five consultant, a systems administrator, a software developer, and one part-time support staff that is shared with Library Research Service. Minimum Qualifications: • MLS/MLIS from an accredited institution. • Minimum five (5) years of progressive supervisory experience in some combination of public, school, academic, or institutional library. • Minimum five (5) years of experience managing large scale library technology projects. • Outstanding oral and written communication skills. • Ability and willingness to travel. • The ability to pass a background check, which includes a motor vehicle records search. Preferred: • Demonstrated ability to envision and implement new cutting edge library technology programs, particularly technology programs that are collaborative in nature. • Knowledge of library automation and/or direct experience with integrated library systems, including server management. • Knowledge of library technology standards, including The Edge benchmarks. • Experience working with advisory boards, committees, and/or cost negotiations with vendors. • Demonstrated experience with budgeting and grant writing and ability to manage multiple account sources. • Demonstrated ability to work with and bring diverse groups of people to consensus to support long term collaborative programs. • Demonstrated ability to advocate for library-related technology programs with non-library agencies/organizations. • Knowledge of digitization standards and practices related to libraries. • Demonstrated communication expertise with libraries of all type and size.
