Job Description

The Park County Library System, headquartered in Cody, Wyoming, is looking for an energetic and forward-thinking, full-time professional to manage the library system’s Powell Branch Library. Required qualifications include a MLS degree and three years library experience; previous supervisory experience and the proven ability to direct the activities of others, while maintaining outstanding customer relations; knowledge of reference and reader's advisory tools, bibliographic sources, cataloging and classification systems; excellent verbal and written, organizational and statistical reporting skills. Must be familiar with Library 2.0 practices and maintain and expand the library’s presence online through the use of social media. The Branch Manager must be able to meet deadlines, follow and interpret Policies and Procedures and effectively work within the community. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, oversight of circulation, adult services, youth and children’s services, programming, community outreach, networking within the community, presentations, fundraising, etc… In addition, the Branch Manager will work with staff to build on existing knowledge of library practices, library technology, and to promote the excellent customer service the library is known for. The Community

The City of Powell (2010 pop. 6314) is located in the scenic Big Horn Basin 80 miles west of the Big Horn Mountains and 75 miles east of Yellowstone National Park. It is the home of Northwest College an accredited two year institution of higher education. The community’s economy is diverse, with an active business, industrial, educational, and agricultural/ranching base. Powell was designated an All America City in 1994. Its high desert climate is surprisingly mild in winter with temperatures often running 25 degrees warmer than Chicago. Annual precipitation is about 5.83 inches per year. Irrigated farmland contrasts with native sagebrush and desert vegetation. Summers are warm with temperatures ranging from the 80’s to 100’s. There are many opportunities for community involvement, outdoor recreation and leisure activities.
