Location: Hadley Branch Library, 1890 S. Grove St. at W. Jewell Ave.
Status/Schedule: Regular, full-time, 40 hours per week. The schedule will be determined by the needs of the department and will include evening and weekend hours.
Salary Range: $22.31 - $29.00 per hour starting salary range; $22.31 - $35.69 per hour full salary range. The City and County of Denver benefit package will be offered.
Background Info: The key role of this branch’s service delivery is to bring bilingual library services and resources to a diverse customer base that includes new immigrants and their families. Intergenerational programming is a focus of this branch, as is serving adults and their families as part of a diverse and vibrant neighborhood library.
Duties and Responsibilities: Empowers and serves a population aiming to explore new frontiers. Fulfills the expectations of a diverse population, in particular addressing the largest language needs in the community, Spanish and Vietnamese. Designs and provides programming and an environment that fits the needs of new immigrant, bilingual and diverse families. Works with a team to develop a new style of service shared between six branch libraries. Oversees daily operations of a branch location including personnel, scheduling and customer service. Communicates effectively about trends and initiatives with customers, staff and administration.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of presenting and providing library services to customers with diverse literacy, informational and technological needs. Skill in providing and instilling leadership. Skill in providing programming and library services in a bilingual and intergenerational environment. Ability to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, positive attitude, cultural sensitivity and sense of humor in working with customers of all ages and backgrounds, coworkers and community. Ability to create and maintain positive relationship with customers, staff and the community. Ability to creatively solve problems, negotiate and handle stressful situations in a positive manner. Ability to multi-task and prioritize. Ability to demonstrate innovation and flexibility. Ability to select, train, motivate, and supervise both professional and clerical staff.
Experience: Two years of post-MLS professional-level work in a library. Spanish or Vietnamese language skills are a plus, but not required.
Education: A Master’s in Library Science from an ALA accredited institution.
Special Requirements: A background check must be passed after the offer to hire has been made.
