Job Description
Assist with public service reader’s advisory and reference. Assist with materials selection, collection development and maintenance as assigned. Prepare and present specifically designed for young adults, families, area schools and youth advocate groups. In cooperation with other staff and youth services supervisor develop new initiatives like out of school programs, gaming activities and other areas of interest to teens. Collaborate with the Digital Branch team on ways to reach young adults through our digital branch, i.e. blogs and other emerging technology trends.Additional Info & Requirements
Knowledge of readers’ advisory, reference techniques, children’s literature, desktop publishing, collection development principles and practices is preferred. This medium work position requires bending, lifting/carrying at least 20 pounds, ability to exert 20-50 pounds of force when pushing/pulling materials, reaching, and the ability to climb stairs, talking on the telephone, basic computer knowledge and stationary work at a computer terminal. Previous experience in customer service is preferred. A pre-and/or post-employment drug screen, a criminal history record check, and a physical capacity testing are required as a condition of employment.The Community
