Job Description

Performs professional library work in adult reference and program services. Oversees the Central Library Reference Services area. Plans, implements, and promotes adult programs. Assists with various mid-level administrative tasks such as planning classes, workshops, collection development recommendations as appropriate, and staff training. Manages and analyzes reference and general research service; plans, promotes, and implements adult programs; conducts outreach to community groups and organizations for promotion of library reference resources; delivers reference services to all ages; supervises and trains assigned staff in a broad range of informational skills and services; schedules training and workshops for staff; maintains budget for assigned programs; assists in policy development and review; maintains statistics and compiles monthly reports; may act as a liaison to Community College of Aurora; serves on appropriate committee in community and City of Aurora agencies; recommends purchases for collection development; and performs other duties as assigned.

The Aurora Public Library is recognized as one of Colorado's most active and cost-efficient library systems. In addition to visiting any of seven library branches, the public can access Odyssey, the library's online catalog. Odyssey contains all library materials available for loan, including books, government documents, video tapes, databases, audio cassettes, CDs and DVDs. The library strives to provide the best services, programs and materials collections at a minimal cost to tax paying residents. Library cards are available to Aurora residents free of charge from any Aurora Library branch.
