Colorado Mesa University Reference and Distance Services Librarian ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Reporting directly to the Head Public Services Librarian, this position provides traditional and virtual reference service, including evening and some weekend hours, to individuals and groups by providing instruction and assistance in identifying, locating, evaluating, and using information resources. In addition to other related duties, responsibilities include the following: • Serve as Library Liaison to assigned academic departments for purposes of collection development. • Provide reference assistance both in person and virtually. • Plan, coordinate, promote and assess services to distance students. • Participate in the collection development process, evaluating resources for inclusion or withdrawal from the collection. • Provide classroom and online information literacy instruction and assessment. • Assist in the design, planning and implementation of library programs, policies and procedures. • Represent the Library on and off-campus at the discretion of the Library Director. • Participate actively on committees. • Create innovative online learning resources (e.g. online tutorials, web applications, etc.); assist in course integrated library instruction (e.g. LibGuides, D2L integration, etc.). • Participate in outreach initiatives. REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: An ALA accredited master’s degree in library science. Current knowledge of emerging library technologies. Three years’ academic library experience. Ability to work independently and solve problems. Instruction experience.
