Job Description

The Auraria Library, serving the University of Colorado Denver, Downtown Denver Campus; Metropolitan State University of Denver; and the Community College of Denver, seeks a dynamic, creative and optimistic Human Resources Associate. This position supports the academic and administrative functions of the AL by serving as day to day manager of human resource and payroll services for Library faculty, staff and student employees.

Responsibilities include facilitation, documentation and enhancement of the following: the hiring process and organization chart; managing and ensuring the accuracy of the departmental payroll; maintaining accuracy and timeliness of PeopleSoft personal data; management of all aspects of the Performance Management process; managing all aspects of the travel and reimbursement; maintaining updated departmental personnel files; Workers’ Compensation and Family Medical Leave documentation and processing (including lost work time reporting); policies and procedures development, and other duties as may be assigned.

Examples of Work Performed 

  • Functions as a liaison with the CU Denver HR Department, payroll, finance, managers/directors and other key departments and personnel concerning all aspects of personnel administration including recruitment, hiring, termination, absence records and annual performance evaluation process.
  • Co-manages all aspects of the Performance Management process for the Library to ensure performance plans, evaluations and coaching is performed in a timely manner and meets deadlines.
  • Manages the Workers’ Compensation and Family Medical Leave (FML) issues and documentation for the Library. Works with the supervisors, employees, Risk Management and the CU Denver HR Department representative to ensure all procedures and appropriate documentation is processed and maintained.
  • Review and manage payroll input to HRMS or MyLeave system.
  • Process all HR functions for designated portion of the Library to include (but not limited to): initiating new employees and completing terminations of employees in departmental and University systems (PeopleSoft); maintaining funding distribution accuracy; initiating data for position hiring; and ensuring compliance with the Fair Labor Standards Act and other CU Denver HR policies and procedures.
  • Provides administrative support for and serves as an active member on all faculty and staff search committees.
  • Processes faculty and staff travel requests and reimbursements as allowed by Library, UCD and State travel rules and regulations.
  • Provides administrative support to Library’s RTP Committee and Director in matters relating to appointment, comprehensive review, and tenure/promotion actions of faculty.
  • Working with the Associate Director of Administrative Services, coordinates Library’s staff development and training program for Library employees.
  • Develops processes, reports, forms and training to assist supervisors in complying with HR procedures and to streamline the process within the department.

Additional Info & Requirements

Minimum Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, Social Science or a related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Two years of human resources experience with recruitment, onboarding and payroll.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a library or higher education setting.
  • Experience tracking and reporting department data.
  • Experience recommending and developing HR/Payroll related policies and procedures.
  • Experience managing and documenting Workers’ Compensation and Family Medical      

Leave issues.

  • Experience coordinating and managing the Performance Management process.
  • Experience using Concur and/or PeopleSoft HRMS.
